OVERVIEW
Bringing creativity and excitement to digital life with symbolic design
In 2021, OriginOS launched OriginOS Ocean 2.0, an upgrade from the previous version. This update aimed to improve the system in six areas: digital revolution, human-computer interaction, new architecture, third-generation GUI, quantum kits, and the health center. The visual design of the system was updated with a focus on a new style called symbolic design, which uses simple symbols to express information in a fun and creative way, while still providing easy access to information.
As a UX designer on the desktop design team, I was involved in creating a new, more expressive, and imaginative symbolic design for the desktop system. (Teamwork)
Responsible for the symbolic icon style, I built on the previous flat UI style design to create more meaningful symbols and attention to detail, resulting in a unique and refreshing user experience. (Individual)
DESIGN CONCEPT
Unlock a New Aesthetic Experience - Imagination Through Symbols
My goal is to create a set of icons that are not just functional, but also aesthetically pleasing and emotionally engaging. Trying to break away from the typical monochromatic, geometric designs commonly seen in mobile interfaces and bring a touch of individuality and creativity to the digital world.
Incorporating symbolic designs into Flat UI-style icons, aim to stimulate users' imagination and enrich their memory. The icons should offer a new and unique experience for users to interact with their mobile phones.
This design concept aims to merge the real and digital worlds by creating a bridge between the two through symbolic design.

Design Legacy and Progress
Design grows through inheritance and progression, constantly evolving to create new and improved forms.
Color-Matched Icons
The design approach focuses on exploring new ways to create a unique and immersive digital world. I believe that color is a powerful symbol and have used this to our advantage in our symbolic icon design. The icons feature simple graphics that allow using color to express mood and emotions.
With this new and innovative feature, users can now add an extra level of customization to their mobile devices. By selecting the option to change the icon colors, users can enjoy a dynamic and ever-evolving visual experience.
Whether it be a holiday vibe for Christmas, stunning ski trip photos, adorable sheep on a grassland, high-speed racing cars, or anything else, the choice is yours.
The set of color rules allows each wallpaper to be calculated by an algorithm, producing magical color symbols that perfectly complement the selected wallpaper. The end result is a unique and personalized mobile desktop that truly reflects the user's individuality and emotions.
TAKE AWAY
The design process was driven by a desire for the best user experience.
Design Refinement
My design goal was to create the best user experience, which was achieved by constantly asking myself questions about my design choices and making adjustments based on the answers.
Teamwork
Despite intense discussions and disagreements, the team was able to work together to bring our ideas to life. The arguments and disagreements led to a stronger sense of camaraderie and a shared goal of creating the best possible design.
Passion for Design
The difficulties and challenges faced during the design process only strengthened my passion for design. The intense discussions and creative brainstorming sessions were some of the most memorable moments of the creation process.
Valuable Experiences
The creation process as one of the most valuable experiences of my design career, filled with meaningful moments of collaboration, criticism, and growth. The process was a major influence on my development as a designer and enriched my spiritual world.
